Moving into the world

The IUFP is a fast-track, one-year pre-degree course that replaces the two-year A-Levels and opens direct entry to universities. Students complete three core subjects: Academic English, Study Skills, and IT Applications, plus three electives aligned to their preferred degree.

While challenging, the IUFP offers students the chance to select from a combination of core subjects and elective modules (6 in total). By making thoughtful choices, students can focus on their academic strengths and nurture their individual passions. For instance, a student aiming for engineering may choose Mathematics and Physics alongside Study Skills, whereas a future business leader might combine Economics with IT Applications to gain a competitive edge for university study.

The Globe with IUFP

IUFP is recognised both internationally and locally, the Foundation Programme is a trusted gateway to direct university admission, and that is why students must choose their pathway carefully. Students are encouraged to align their subject choices with future course and university requirements, and at Square College, we guide them every step of the way. Tailored to prepare students for success at leading universities in the UK, US, Africa, Canada, Dubai, Ireland, and Australia, the programme provides a strong academic foundation, English proficiency, and essential study skills.

The Foundation Programme demands Curiosity, Growth, and Readiness.

The CGR (Curiosity, Growth, Readiness) framework is at the heart of our Foundation Programme. It may sometimes feel challenging, but that is precisely the point! Students must understand how this vital stage prepares them for life-changing opportunities ahead. Not only do Foundation students at Square College gain the academic and intellectual grounding needed for success at top universities worldwide, but they also enjoy access to diverse extra-curricular activities that develop transferable skills demanded in today’s global world, such as:

  • Academic Confidence, mastering core subject foundations.
  • Adaptability in an international university setting.
  • Critical awareness, learning to evaluate and apply knowledge across diverse study fields.
  • Problem-solving skills, encouraging effective planning, and innovative approaches.
  • Collaboration and initiative, engaging groups, and leadership opportunities.
  • Global readiness through exposure to international students and pathways to top universities.
  • Designed as a stepping stone, the Foundation Programme not only prepares students for immediate academic success but also builds the mindset and skillset to excel in higher education and life beyond.

“Stronger Foundations, Greater Success.

Fewer subjects, deeper learning! The IUFP requires students to focus on 3 core modules and 3 electives, carefully chosen to align with their future degree paths. This focused approach ensures every student builds a strong foundation, develops essential skills, and gains the confidence to thrive at university and beyond.

This means a student taking Mathematics, Physics, IT Applications, and Economics will dedicate almost 3x more focus and effort to each module. Students engage in independent research, deliver presentations, lead discussions, and manage their own study schedules. At Square College, IUFP students are guided towards academic independence while developing the skills, confidence, and mindset needed to excel at university and beyond.

Foundation students develop Independence and Readiness.

The IUFP is a time of transformation and growth, something we value deeply at Square College. Our dedicated tutors support students to build their academic skills, develop independence, and explore their passions. At the same time, we encourage students to take initiative, embrace challenges with a can-do attitude, and approach learning with curiosity and determination.
